Smitten by the innovation and progress of the IT sector in Telangana, especially in start-up incubation, the Goa government has sought the help of the TS government in promoting start-ups, e-Governance, IT innovation and digital literacy in Goa.
In continuation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed last year between Goa and Telangana for mutual cooperation in IT and Skill Development, the Goa government has sought the support of the Telangana government for guiding and improving IT ecosystem in Goa.
A Goa delegation led by IT Minister Rohan A Kaunte, now on a two-day visit to the State, visited TASK (Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge) office, STPI-Hyderabad (Software Technology Parks of India), several IT companies, start-ups and animation studios in Hyderabad. The Goa delegation held a discussion with IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on areas of cooperation between the two States.
Kaunte urged the TS government to handhold Goa which is at a nascent stage in IT sector besides cooperating in the establishment of startups, e-Governance system and digital literacy in Goa.
He praised the innovative initiatives of his TS counterpart which strengthened the roots of IT sector in Hyderabad after the State bifurcation. He appreciated the government’s innovative measures, including TASK and Green Gold TV animation studio, where he said that such initiative in Goa can propel immense growth.
“Start-ups with good calibre should be brought to Goa and use the Goan talent to nurture them,” he tweeted. He also hinted at the possible establishment of STPI centre in Goa that would increase the employment opportunities for the local youth. “We look forward to cooperation between TS and Goa in terms of knowledge exchange and technology transfer,” Kaunte added.
Rama Rao explained the TS government’s policies and initiatives to boost IT growth in the State. He stated that the novel measures led to increase in start-ups from a few hundreds in 2014 to more than 3,000 start-ups in the State, turning Hyderabad into a start-up capital. “We facilitated the development of IT ecosystem which attracted the start-ups as well as ensured the smooth operations of various multinational companies in the State. Telangana is ready to guide and provide necessary support to Goa to improve the IT ecosystem. Stronger States, stronger India,” he said.
He also suggested that the Goa government should take up laying of optical fibre network to take modern technologies to the doorsteps of rural India. The Goan delegation landed in Hyderabad on July 5 morning and is scheduled to leave on July 6.
