The relevance of MSMEs in driving the growth of Indian economy is already well understood by Central Government, but now even State Governments are leaving no stone unturned to push the sector further. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government is striving hard to boost micro, small and medium enterprises sector within state and make it nationally competitive.
In the same regard, the state government is now likely to soon come up with MSME Hub in the adjoining trans-Ganga city. The hub will promote leather goods, hosiery and machine manufacturing within the state.
With continuous determination, Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC) has been able to attract and on-board Chinese investors to invest in state’s industries. Chinese firms have expressed willingness to invest about Rs 7000 crore in hosiery goods, footwear and machinery manufacturing sectors, a top UPSIDC official D K Garg told PTI.
The investments are expected to give a push to employment generation among skilled workers.
The Corporation is also planning to develop small scale industrial units to further boost hosiery, ready-made garments, leather goods and furniture industry.
“It will be beneficial for the small industrialists to set up their respective industries in multi-storey buildings. They will not require getting the map of industrial plots passed by municipal authorities. Besides, they will get space at cheaper prices,” UPSIDC MD Ranveer Prasad told PTI.
The MSME Hub could come up at a spread over 1,100 acres near the Ganga barrage, that is equidistant from Kanpur and state capital Lucknow.
MSME sector in Uttar Pradesh has played an important role in providing large scale employment opportunities at lower capital cost and helped in industrialization of rural and backward areas, thereby reducing regional imbalance. As per MSME Ministry’s data, Uttar Pradesh homes 52231 plus enterprises which in total employee more than 4.18 lakh people.
