MEDIC TFHC Pvt. Ltd, a city-based start-up, which developed a mobile app for providing medical services at a click, has received recognition by Startup India for developing an innovative product.

The firm, being mentored under NASSCOM’s 10k startup programme at its warehouse set up at Sunrise Incubation Hub, Rushikonda, is the first from the city and the only one from the State to get Startup India recognition, firm’s managing director and CEO Ram Kumar Varma told .

MEDIC stands for Medical Emergency Diagnostic Centre. As per the project plan, the firm has launched its beta version.

The recognition by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion under the Ministry of Commerce will help in the expansion of the project. The mobile app will go live on June 15. The department after a thorough scrutiny has selected 830 start-ups from among over 8,000 across the country for recognition.

Those who get recognition under Startup India programme, the brainchild of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will be eligible for sales tax exemption for three years and get an invite to international entrepreneurship workshops. MEDIC will play an active role in Innovation Society set up by the State Government.

Speaking on the status of the project, Varma said it could be accessed in Telugu language. The product facilitates online appointments for doctors, diagnostic and medical shop services.

Hospital information

When it goes live, it will add additional information such as hospital information online right from the number of beds, specialisation and emergency services and details of insurance providers who have partnered with the hospital.

It will also contain blood bank information. This feature will help connect a person dialling the blood bank directly and also check if there are donors who can help. It will also offer information on ambulance services 24X7.

Varma said: “Our product is going though testing phase and will go live for phase-2 of beta launch on May15.” Efforts are on to partner with the government for executing the project.

The product will be launched as a pilot project in East and West Godavari districts with the main base at Kakinada and Palakollu.
