Youngsters, Look East! NE Ministry offers seed funds to start-ups in region


More & more youngsters approaching government to set up start-ups in North-Eastern region under Startup India, Standup India programme, says Minister for Development of North-Eastern Region Jitendra Singh

Given the growing interest of youngsters in setting up start-ups in North-Eastern states under Startup India programme of the Union government, the Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region has decided to give away initial venture capital fund in addition to all the provisions available in the Government of India programme to financially assist start-ups in the region.

“Any youngster who decides to set up start-ups in the North-East will in addition to all the provisions available in the Government of India programme will get initial venture capital fund from the North-East Ministry so that they do not have any financial liability,” said North-East Development Minister Jitendra Singh.

The Minister informed that more and more youngsters from across India are approaching the Union government to set up start-ups in north-eastern states under the Startup India, Standup India programme, and hence the government is building necessary infrastructure to develop the region as start-up venture destination of the nation.

Terming ‘Startup India, Standup India’ as the most unique programme in the world, Singh said that the “proactive outreach” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the policies offered by his government are creating “conducive milieu for start-ups”.

“Entrepreneurship potential of India which was not being realised (earlier)… is now being realised. So, that kind of milieu has been provided by the present government,” he said.

The Minister is bullish that India is set to become one of the most attractive destinations for start-ups and businesses in years to come.

The ambitious Startup India, Standup India programme offers unparalleled incentives to start-ups, from 3-years tax holiday to 3-months exit period, and so on and so forth.
