Companies looking for the cachet that comes from having art in their offices can make sure that their post-moderns don’t clash with their faux impressionists. Startups are here to help with artwork trials, customisation and ringing periodic changes.
While selling art online is now old hat, aggregators such as Ardizen, HuesNStrokes and Artmikado are raising the bar with features such as rentals and customisation, making the discovery and ownership of artworks easy and risk-free.
Shravani Vatti’s Ardizen, based out of Pune, is giving corporates a chance to redo their office decor as and when they wish. Working with more than 800 artists from across India, Vatti not just rents out paintings but also offers variety. The oneyear subscription model that Vatti’s art rental business follows also offers a change of paintings every four months.
“Clients pick up various moods be it abstract figurative, landscape or woman empowerment according to the message they want to convey and we offer change of pictures accordingly,” she said.
While renting out a single painting can cost anywhere between Rs 2,800 and Rs 7,500 a month, corporate clients spend up to Rs 50,000 a month for doing up their walls. Ardizen charges anywhere between 20% and 25% commission on every deal.
Some of Ardizen’s clients include names like Capgemini, Alvarez and Marsal, Value Momentum and Hitachi. Alongside renting, the company also sells art online.
Like with bespoke tailoring, paintings too have graduated to made-to-order versions.
HuesNStrokes, a one-year-old startup, maintains an online gallery of 3,500 artworks created by close to 350 artists. It sells paintings online through its own website and also through partner etailers like Amazon and Snapdeal. A client can get complete customisation in terms of size, colour and price of a particular painting.
