India’s highly preferred furniture marketplace MebelKart has announced that it is extremely optimistic about the modular kitchen category that it launched in November 2015. The company is witnessing a month-on-month growth of 75%, both in terms of revenue as well as volumes.

The modular kitchen category is currently live in Bangalore, Chennai and Kochi. The company will be launching this category in Mumbai and Delhi by April end.

India contributes around 7% share in the total global home furnishings trade of approximately USD 70 billion. MSMEs in India manufacture over 6,000 products of which around 6.36% are in the furniture category.

The demand for modular kitchens has increased dramatically in recent times because of an increased focus on convenience, a need for effective utilization of space, lifestyle-related changes and enhanced purchasing power.

At MebelKart, modular kitchens can be designed and customized based on the requirements of the consumer. A wide portfolio of offerings is present on modular kitchen section, available from Rs. 80,000 onwards.

MebelKart was formed with the vision of providing end-to-end home solutions to buyers across the country, irrespective of their budgets. We recently launched the modular kitchen category to cater to the increasing demands of the new-age home buyers. As per our internal research, 80% of modular kitchen category is unorganized. The customers are unable to get real value from their online furniture purchase and are often left wanting for variety when it comes to styles and designs. We, at MebelKart, are striving hard to address this gap with our aesthetically designed and affordable products in the modular kitchens category”, MebelKart Co-Founder and CEO Rahul Agrawal said.

The category has been performing extremely well and we are scaling this up really fast. We are confident that we will continue to witness exponential growth in this category in the times to come”, Agrawal said.

MebelKart, which started as a furniture marketplace in 2012, is growing by 100% MoM in terms of GMV and volume. The company currently serves 20,000 pincodes that translates to over 100 cities, has product portfolio of 2 lakh SKUs, and is working with 2,500 vendors across India.

MebelKart recently raised $20 million from the AskMe group.
