The Centre-State has described Make In India as Asia’s largest multi-sectoral exhibition with participation of 1,000 international and 8,000 Indian companies and heads of state of half a dozen countries.

According to Secretary, Department of Industrial and Policy Promotion, Amitabh Kant, “The Centre will feature an exhibition of the most innovative products and manufacturing processes that have been developed in India. There will be 192 global and Indian companies showcasing cross key focus sectors such as Defence & Aerospace; Automobiles & Auto Components; Chemicals & Petrochemicals; Construction Equipment, Materials & Technology; Food processing; Infrastructure Development; IT & Electronics; Industrial Equipment & Machinery; Pharmaceuticals; Textiles and MSMEs.”

The event will have 11 sectors and three country pavilions along with 17 state pavilions that cut across political lines to display India’s major manufacturing states, their achievements and investment potential.

Delegations from 17 states across India have already parked themselves in the country’s financial capital 24 hours ahead of the event.

Captains of industries and politicians are eagerly waiting to see what message the prime minister gives to the world at the first business summit in Mumbai.

On February 12, the Prime Minister wrote on Twitter, “Will be in Mumbai tomorrow where I will launch the Make In India Week, an effort to provide greater impetus to Make In India.” He wrote, “Make In India celebrates the achievements in the manufacturing sector and offers an insight into investment opportunities in India.”

State Chief Minister Fadnavis said, “I am glad and thankful to prime minister for giving us an opportunity to host the Make In India in Maharashtra.”

Senior officials from the Centre revealed that Modi will be joined by the Prime Minister of Sweden and the Prime Minister of Finland, among other dignitaries from abroad and India, to engage in bilateral meetings at the venue.

On February 13 evening, Modi will launch the Make In India event. It would be followed by his address to the gathering comprising captains of industries from abroad and India, politicians and prominent persons from various walks of life.

At BKC, Modi will inaugurate the new building of the Bombay Art Society. The week long event from February 13 to February 18 is expected to see 3000 B2B and G2G meetings with participation from 2,500 international delegates.

The venue on a sprawling 2,20,000 sq mts with 27 pavilions will host seminars on subjects related to industries and investments.

From Defence Minister Manohar Parikkar to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, each is looking to tap core sectors. While Parrikar believes Defence is ready for the big leap having opened itself for big ticket investments, Prabhu describes Make In India as a mission and not a mere slogan.
