A three-day mini Khadi fair will be organized from September 30 to October 2 on Udyog Bhavan campus at Ratu Road to mark the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Chairman of Jharkhand State Khadi and Village Industries Board, Sanjay Seth said, “This fair will help in the promotion of Khadi, other cottage industries and individual artisans of the state.”
He added, “We aim to make at least 10,000 women of the state self-employed this year and this fair would be a platform for the women who are involved in making handicrafts, food items and other things”.
There is also a plan to inaugurate a modern Khadi showroom during Navratra. Seth said, “We will make it a world class showroom having a variety of Khadi products. It will be started at the old office at Radium Road. Also a modern showroom will be started near Birsa Munda Airport in late October”.
Seth also informed that the annual Saras Mela will be organized at Morhabadi Grounds from December 17, 2016 to January 8, 2017 where artisans from across the country would participate. Seth has appealed to people to wear at least one Khadi dress on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. “This will not just popularise Khadi but also help in improvement of our rural artisans,” he said.
