suresh-prabhuTo promote micro and small enterprises (MSE), the Indian Railways has exclusively reserved 358 items, including cleaning apparatus, stationery and leather items, for procurement from the sector. The MSE sector has also been exempted from paying tender cost and earnest money deposit for participating in the railway tender.

Though earnest money is required to be deposited in all modes of tendering, we have decided to exempt the MSEs from depositing it with the tender document,” said a senior Railway Ministry official.

Govt launches  GST Certificate course at Garib Nawaz skill centres

GgstThe government has announced certificate course in GST through its Garib Nawaz skill development centres, in order to equip the various stakeholders including the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with knowledge related to the newly implemented Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Launching the event, Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi highlighted the growing significance of GST ready workforce in the country. Given the likely increase in demand for GST accounting and/or programming professionals in days to come, the three-month course will be offered under guidance of GST experts.

India’s garment exports may register 15-18% growth in FY 18: Textiles Commissioner

export2Garment exports are expected to register a growth of 15-18 per cent in FY18, against $17 billion in 2016, Textiles Commissioner Kavita Gupta has informed. Garment exports have clocked 18 per cent growth since January 2017 and government hopes a similar trend for remaining period of the year, Gupta said while addressing 65th National Garments Fair inaugurated by Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani in Mumbai. Organized by Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), the fair aims to showcase business opportunities.

We hope to generate 10 per cent increase in trade at Rs 750 crore from this fair The 18 per cent GST would be a major blow to the small manufacturers,” CMAI President Rahul Mehta said.
