More than 7.9 lakh MSMEs have registered themselves using Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM) out of which maximum are from Bihar and minimum from the north eastern states.
According to the data available on the UAM website, 794,886 MSMEs have registered themselves through UAM.
Out of the total units registered, 687,867 are micro enterprises, 103,248 small enterprises and 3,770 are medium enterprises.
Bihar has topped the list of states with 207,245 units registered using UAM. After Bihar, UP has 77,856 units, Tamil Nadu 77,751 units and Gujarat 77,013 units that have registered using UAM.
Meanwhile, the north eastern states of Meghalaya and Mizoram have only 6 and 2 units registered respectively.
Apart from the north eastern states, Lakshadweep has merely 11 MSMEs registered using UAM.
Meanwhile, Delhi has 11,293 units, West Bengal only 23,447 and Punjab only 8,432 units registered using UAM.
Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM) was launched in September, 2015 with a view to promote ease of doing business.
“The success of the same can be got from the fact that about 8 lakh registrations have already been done in the last 8 ½ months, while, registration during the 67 years of independence was only around 22 lakhs,” MSME Minsiter Kalraj Mishra said while interacting with media on achievements of his Ministry in the last two years.
