According to Devika Ramesh, Chairperson of FLO Coimbatore chapter, land has been earmarked at industrial estates in Telangana, Gujarat, and Karnataka. In Assam, Haryana, Meghalaya, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, the State Governments have agreed in principle to create industrial parks for women.

The association, which has two chapters in Tamil Nadu, plans to approach the State Government in this regard.

Meanwhile, with about 50 women entrepreneurs in the manufacturing space here, the Coimbatore chapter is exploring the possibility of land earmarked for them in an upcoming industrial estate.

The FLO Coimbatore has signed an agreement with PSG College of Arts and Science to mentor students so that they get into start-ups. “We have women from different fields – manufacturing, financial consultancy, lawyers, etc., and we can mentor women in any of these fields,” she said.

The Coimbatore chapter of the organisation also plans to adopt a village where it will have a holistic and women-centric approach for development in education, sanitation, skill development, digital connection, and water management.

The chapter has launched a skill development programme for women and has tied-up with different organisations to train them.

It is looking at training 25 women in each vertical, such as driving, tailoring, and beautician.

Certificates will be given to candidates who complete the courses successfully.

The courses will be for one month to six months, depending on the programme and interested candidates will be helped to set up their own venture too.

The programme in tailoring has started, she said.
