Flipkart launchesThe Indian e-retailer Flipkart on February 17 announced the nation-wide launch of Spotlist. It’s a service that offers instant cataloguing and listing for small-scale sellers and artisans in India. The company expects to provide small-scale sellers with professional assistant to catalogue their products on the Flipkart website.

Along with the advantage of instant access to the listing service, the company also offers sellers to avail the service at their premises itself. This means that sellers will not need to go anywhere for the service as the cataloguing partners themselves will reach the sellers.

The cataloguing partners will travel via Spotlist-branded vans/bikes to seller locations. The vehicle will be equipped with necessary cataloguing tools and technologies, including cameras, half-mannequins or photo-boxes. Spotlist technicians will help sellers to list their products instantly following the shoot.

Since November last year, this service has been launched in five key metros – Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad. So far, over 1000 sellers across categories have availed this service and close to 10,000 products have been catalogued.

Flipkart’s Spotlist comes just after few hours of the launch of Amazon Tatkal. The service was launched by its close competitor Amazon on the same day. Similar to Spotlist, Amazon Tatkal focuses on integrating small scale enterprises and medium establishments to its web portal.
