Rajiv Pratap RudyFunding will be given to states for developing skill sets among the youth. The Union Ministry has already set up a corpus of ₹32,000 crore provided jointly by the World Bank, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana and similar other apprentice schemes, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said here on September 6.

“In the last 65 years or so, the entire skill eco-system of the country has been killed. It is a major challenge for us to build such an eco-system. We are ready to work with the states for this purpose,” he said during the 53rd Annual General Meeting of The Indian Paint Association.

Appreciating the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government’s initiative to set up more ITIs, Rudy said the Directorate General of Training (DGT) will soon grant affiliations to these newly set up centres.

The overseeing Ministry for ITIs will soon be Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Ministry rather than the Labour Ministry.

His Ministry, Rudy said, has also pitched for imparting skill education among students of classes eight to 12.
