AnandibenThe Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) will organize ‘GCCI Summit and Expo’ dedicated to the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) with an aim to boost their business during the current global recession on April 29 and 30 at Mahatma Mandir.

The event will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Anandiben Patel while Ashwani Kumar, CMD of Dena Bank and Pankaj Patel, CMD of Zydus Cadila Group will be the guests of honour.

The industrial exhibition will showcase avenues of investment in Gujarat-based MSMEs. There are expected to be 75 stalls at the venue with footfalls likely to cross 20,000. The event shall be attended by about 5,000 members of trade and industry from across all regions of Gujarat.

There are approximately 3.62 lakh MSME in Gujarat and their contribution to the state GDP is around 11%. The year-on-year growth rate of these enterprises in the state is estimated to be around 17%.

Special focus will be on building a lucrative vendor development program where public sector units in Gujarat will enlighten MSMEs and ancillary units of their purchase requirements, procurement policies and vendor emplacement procedure. According to a central government policy, it is mandatory for PSUs and corporate entities to buy a specified portion of their purchase from MSMEs.

“The GCCI Summit and Expo will help provide solutions to problems plaguing the MSME sector right at the venue in the presence of ministers and respective secretaries of different government departments. Discussions will guide MSMEs on how to take advantage of new market opportunities that arise,” said Rohit Patel, President – GCCI.
