After overwhelming response for the Gujarat Handicrafts Utsav last year, Industrial Extension Cottage, Government of Gujarat Organization in association with JSS Urban Haat is organizing a “Gujarat Handicrafts Utsav 2017” for the second time at JSS Mysore Urban Haat, Hebbal Industrial Area, Mysuru from June 29 to July 9.
Craft of Gujarat is an initiative started by the Gujarat Government to promote handicraft products which are produced by the artisans. The products can be of different types which includes decorative items, embroidery clothes, leather work, bandhani, hand-block printing and many more. Under the industrial extension cottage schema (INDEXT – C), the Gujarat government started this.
More than 50 master and creative artisans of Gujarat State are participating in this exhibition and will exhibit, demonstrate and sell their rich art and crafts like Bandhani (Tie & Dye), Kutchhi Embroidery, Handloom Products, Bamboo crafts, Jute Items ,Coir Products, Agate Items, Navarathri special Chania Choli, Clay articles, Patch work, Bead work, Terracotta, Warli painting, Eco-friendly Jewellery items and many more .Gujarat also has a rich tradition of embroidery, leather work, bandhani and hand-block printing. Gujarat is also known for the famous and unique Kutch embroidery.
The timings of the Utsav will be from 10.00 a.m. to 9.00 pm every day. The Gujarat Handicraft Utsav – 17 will be inaugurated on June 29 by Pratap Simha, MP , G T Devegowda, MLA, Chamundeswari Constituency, Mysuru, will preside over the function.
