start-upFollowing highly successful conferences over the past 5 years in Singapore, Jakarta and Tokyo, Tech in Asia, the online hub for Asia’s tech community, is bringing its conference formula to Bangalore, the epicentre of India’s tech ecosystem. Held on July 6-7 at Manpho Convention Centre, the conference promises to be a truly international tech event, with 40% of speakers coming from overseas.

Yoshiko Tsuwaki, Deputy Director of Information and Communication Electronics in Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry, Junde Yu, Managing Director of App Annie for APAC, and Willson Cuaca, Managing Partner of East Ventures from Singapore, will be among the speakers from abroad. They will join India’s changemakers like Vani Kola, Managing Director of Kalaari Capital, Girish Mathrubootham, Founder of Freshdesk, and Ritesh Agarwal, Founder of OYO Rooms.

“It’s the best tech conference I’ve ever attended in Asia”, said Ben Horowitz, Co-Founder of Andreessen Horowitz, after speaking at the Tech in Asia conference in Tokyo last year.

The conference comes to India at an inflection point for its fast rising tech startup ecosystem, as it tries to balance growth with profitability, against the backdrop of a global economic shift.

“As India’s tech ecosystem matures, entrepreneurs and investors we have spoken to are eager to learn more about how startups and founders have succeeded on a global level”, says Andrew Wang, COO at Tech in Asia.

“We’re proud and excited to provide a window to the world for the Indian startup ecosystem – and a window to India for the global startup community”, he added.

Attendees can look forward to two days of learning and networking with entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders participating on five stages. Apart from the Main Stage featuring global tech influencers, there’s an Entry Stage for lessons from experts on entering global markets, a Scale Stage for growth strategies, a Developer Stage to understand web and app engineering tactics, and an exclusive Investor Stage with top VCs laying out what they’re looking for today.

The following are other highlights of the event:

  • Speed-dating: Founders get to pitch their business to leading venture capital firms from around the world. Each Tech in Asia conference typically hosts VC firms with a combined capital of $1 billion, and July’s event expects to facilitate 320 sessions.
  • Roundtables: The Bangalore conference marks the debut for this segment – cosy sessions limited to around 20 participants, where entrepreneurs chat with experts and veterans on fundamentals like user experience, legal concerns, and exit strategies.
  • Bootstrap Alley: 122 curated, product-ready startups from India and abroad showcase their ideas, form partnerships, and find funding opportunities.
  • Exclusive luncheons: App Annie and Baidu host lunchtime mini-seminars that aim to inform, educate, and connect.
  • Diversity Summit: A collaboration with 500 Startups and Digital Ocean, this Diversity Summit gathers people from various backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented in India’s tech ecosystem to bring out the best from the startup community.
  • Arena pitch battle: 7 shortlisted startups pitch their companies, live on stage, to a panel of judges.
  • Night Crawl after-parties: The networking continues after dark! Make merry and find new connections after a day of hustling.
