kretoThe ‘Karnataka Region Economic Trade Organization’ (KRETO) has been launched by Former Cabinet Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar, State Minister U T Khader and Mayor of Bengaluru Manjunath Reddy. KRETO also announced it is in consultative status with ECOSOC United Nations.

At the forum, Chief Minister Siddharamaiah, through a video message, stressed on the importance of KRETO in creating a favourable business environment within Karnataka for local companies as well as for international companies interested in expanding here.

The event also witnessed signing of MoUs by the government and various national and international bodies. Few of them are e-Tourist card – between KRETO and ESTONIA- for Strategic support from Estonia, AACC and KRETO for an Innovation and display centre by AACC, Government of Bosnia and KRETO to promote the Kannada film Panorama Festival.

Other pacts include, the Corporation of Bengaluru with Sanya city, and to have better coordination between the state and NRIs and promote Khadi globally.

The KRETO office is formed to be as an effort to forge a symbiotic relationship between the Govt. of Karnataka and various foreign representations and missions in the State. KRETO will provide a single interface on socio-economic activities of Karnataka State and its development and also coordinate investment in the state across potential sectors through various missions.

The event was held in the presence of C M Ibrahim- Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Govt of Karnataka, Krishna kumar, IAS, Chairman KRETO, Shabeena Sultana, Vice Chairperson KRETO, Asif Iqbal, Executive Director KRETO and delegates from various other international chambers of commerce and industry
