Exclusively for womenA highlight from the job mela was M Ashwini. She received a loan for rupees 1 crore to set up a project in the city manufacturing high density pipes. The loan was provided by the State Bank of Hyderabad under the Centre’s schemes of Startup India and Standup India. The mela was organized by the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment and National Institute of Career Services.

Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Bandaru Dattatreya was reported as encouraging women to be not just job seekers but also entrepreneurs, and unleash their potential towards job creation.

Officials of seven national banks, namely from, SBI, SBH, Andhra Bank, Canara Bank, Indian Bank, Syndicate Bank, Bank of India and Allahabad Bank officials were present to provide guidance to women entrepreneurs on how to go about availing themselves of loans.

This was the fourth job mela by the ministry in two years and this one held on 26th February, 2017, was exclusively for women.

The Hans India reports that a considerable number of women also received job offers at the mela. From 4300, 1600 job offer letters were disseminated.

The companies present and looking for candidates according to The Hans India were, Sure IT, Amazon, Flipkart, Hgs (International) TapadiaTech, Panzer Technologies, TBSS Karvy, Merlin, KUN United, Instaemi, Advent Global among others.

There’s no indication of how many job offers were made by Flipkart. Flipkart COO, Nitin Seth was recently quoted in the media as saying that Flipkart will be looking to woo back some of the senior officials who had left the ecommerce company who has had a heavy turnover of high ranking officials in the recent past.
