Cracking the whip further, the state government has informed the officers concerned that achievement of targets will be noted in their annual performance report, an official said.

The targets include providing employment or self- employment to about two lakh people by coordinating with various departments and making available employment opportunities to a minimum of 20,000 youths under the Employment Promotion Program (EPP).

The Skill Development Department had asked the officers to set Key Performance Indicators/Physical Targets and submit monthly reports to the Chief Minister at the kra.maharashtra.gov.in web portal by 5th of every month. Other targets include updating of the government’s employment portal- maharojgar.gov.in.

The department was mandated to coordinate and implement various skill development programs and create a technology platform for bringing transparency in various institutions imparting skill development training. It was also mandated to raise the number of vocational training providers from 700 to 1,500. Under the Pramod Mahajan Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Mission, the department was supposed to have enhanced skills of more than one lakh youths. It was asked to shut down vocational courses with low demand and start new courses which are in demand.

In view of the MoUs signed with Bosch and Siemens under KRA, the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) were supposed to carry out quality enhancement of their course syllabi, and enhance skills of their students. The department has asked all offices and desks under its jurisdiction to fully utilise its annual allocations for 2016-17 by March 31, 2017.

The Directorate of Vocational Education and Training was supposed to have signed agreements of cooperation with at least 10 industrial establishments for improving training facilities in ITIs and their teaching staff. The Directorate of Vocational Education and Training, Maharashtra State Skill Development Institute and its allied offices have been asked to achieve the set targets by March 31, 2017, the officer said.
