This, would be beneficial for MSMEs sector as facilities are available daily or weekly for uploading of B2B invoice details and other records. The GSTR-1 Excel Worksheet can be used to prepare data for GSTR-1 without using the internet.

The Excel template, comprising eight worksheets, is part of GST Network’s approach to make tax compliance easy and convenient for taxpayers and also reduce the time of compliance.

As per the GST law, a return of all sales or trade made in a month have to be filed online by the 10th of the following month.

Datas of the Excel Worksheet can also be converted into a format acceptable to GST Portal by using Java offline.

“This also benefits taxpayers in remote areas where Internet connectivity might not be that good,” said GST Chairman, Navin Kumar on June.

Offline Utility has to be downloaded and installed and there are four options to upload the invoice data- Manual Entry of Invoice Data, Copy and Paste from Excel Workbook, Import full Excel Workbook consisting of multiple sheets and Import the csv file.
