Government of India is making all out efforts to help growth of new generation of entrepreneurs to flourish, in every sector and in all parts of the country, Sitharaman said.
Lauding the export performance of chemicals and dyes industries in India, Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Minister of State for Commerce and Industry (independent charge) stressed upon the need to enhance the SME space across the entirety of its value chain.
According to her, it is essential to have a strategy to enhance export competitiveness of SMEs through capacity building, cheaper credit, better marketing, robust infrastructure, technology and nurturing innovation and skill development and putting in place conducive environment for their growth.
Sitharaman was addressing the exporters from chemicals, dyes and cosmetics industries while giving the CHEMEXCIL awards to the winners of export performance in various categories during last four years.
The CHEMEXCIL Lifetime Achievement Awards were conferred on Rustom Godrej Joshi, VVF Group of Companies, VVF (INDIA) Ltd. and Jayendra Kharawala, Chairman, Jay Chemical Industries Ltd.
While commending the performance in the backdrop of tough market conditions during past few years, she assured that the Government of India is making all out efforts to help growth of new generation of entrepreneurs to flourish, in every sector and in all parts of the country.
Steps such as 3 per cent interest equalization scheme and enhanced duty drawback rates have implemented to push the exports. Under MEIS, the government has announced additional incentives of Rs. 3,000 crores to several products. she stated, The exports of products under CHEMEXCIL, which include products such as basic chemicals, dyes and cosmetics, grew by 13% in volume during the period April-November 2015 and have shown positive growth fiscal year 2014-15 despite sluggish conditions globally.
CHEMEXCIL, as an export promotion council under Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is the catalyst in bringing Indian exporters and overseas importers together, thereby helping strengthen business relations between Indian and foreign buyers.
Congratulating the winners, Chairman of CHEMEXCIL, Dr. B. R. Gaikwad mentioned, “Government’s initiatives like the new Foreign Trade Policy, MEIS benefits to more products and extending 3% interest benefits to exports of MSME sector, etc. will boost exports and help exporting community.”
