pinarayi-vijayan_Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has unveiled the Vyapar 2017, a business-to-business interaction to be held in February 2017 where products and technologies from the state’s key manufacturing sector are set to be showcased to potential buyers.
In a function held at the Chief Minister’s Office here, Vijayan also released the logo of the event which will be conducted at the Bolgatty Palace and Island Resort in Kochi from February 2 to 4 next year by the Department of Industries and Commerce with the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles, Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) and Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA).

Vyapar 2017 will focus on Kerala’s small and micro enterprises (SMEs) and showcase the state’s existing strong manufacturing base, highlight the quality of its products, help sustain existing industries and enable their growth.

The meet will also be a platform to boost consumer and investor confidence in Kerala and provide impetus to the production sector and the economy, the organisers said.

It will highlight Kerala’s industrial agility and knowledge-based skills to the trading community in India and abroad.

Promotion of SMEs

The Kerala Business to Business (B2B) Meets is part of the state government’s efforts to promote SMEs in the global markets and help the manufacturing sector access larger markets.

Products from sectors as varied as food processing, handloom, textiles and garments (with a special focus on fashion design and furnishing products), rubber, coir, Ayurveda and herbal (including cosmetics and herbal nutraceuticals), electrical and electronics as well as traditional sectors like handicrafts and bamboo will feature prominently.

The Directorate of Industries and Commerce will select the SMEs who will be featured in Vyapar 2017 and provide them the opportunity to present their products and technologies to prospective buyers including business houses, trade associates, exporters and bulk consumers from India and abroad.

It is expected to help Kerala manufacturers get first-hand knowledge of the market demands, emerging markets and requirements in terms of quality standards.

Kerala  Industries Department additional Chief Secretary Paul Antony, Industries Department special secretary Sanjay Kaul, KSIDC Managing Director M Beena, Kerala State Industries and Commerce Director P M Francis, Handloom Development director K Sudheer and K-BIP CEO V Rajagopal were present during the launch held the other day.
