Union MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra and Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Ram Naik on November 29, laid the foundation stone for MSME Technology Centre at Greater Noida.
The center will focus on providing technological & skilled manpower support to Electronics Systems Design & Manufacturing (ESDM), automotive electronics sectors of the region. A National Vendor Development Programme (NVDP) Exhibition was also organized during this event.
Uttar Pradesh government has provided 15 acres of land free of cost, for the centre whereas Government of India would be investing more than Rs.145 crore for creating facilities towards plant & machinery, development of civil and associate infrastructure.
This Technology Centre is one of the 15 new Technology Centres that are being established in the country by Ministry of MSME. The Programme would be implemented at an estimated cost of Rs. 2,200 crore including World Bank loan assistance of US $ 200 million.
“The Technology Centre will ensure competitiveness of the MSMEs in the Electronics Systems Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) eco-system by strengthening their linkages to the mainstream manufacturing sector across the globe. The Centre would also train nearly 3000 trainees annually on becoming fully operational.”, the Minister said.
Underlining the demonetization effect, Kalraj Mishra added that this centre will be completed through cashless mode.
Highlighting the Vendor Development Programme, Mishra said that this would facilitate matchmaking between large scale Public Sector Undertakings & MSMEs by bringing them together at a common platform for mutual benefit of both.
Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary, MoS, MSME, Giriraj Singh, MoS, MSME, Dr. Mahesh Sharma, MoS (Independent Charge) for Tourism & Culture, K K jalan, Secretary, MSME and S N Tripathi, DC, MSME were also present on the occasion.
Ram Naik, Governor, Uttar Pradesh said, “Timely completion of the Technology Centre is very important for the development of the State. Uttar Pradesh as a big state deserves one more Technology Centre in addition to the ones sanctioned at Kanpur and Gr. Noida. I have requested the Union Government to do the necessary for opening one more at the earliest.”
Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary, MoS, MSME said, “Technology Centre will focus on ESDM sector and will address the requirement of the catchment area, as the Noida and Greater Noida have been at the epicentre of the development of the ESDM industry in North India.”
Giriraj Singh, MoS, MSME said, “Technology Centre will focus to cater to ESDM sector development, Innovation & design services, prototyping, testing & calibration, incubation and training in Electronic Repair & Maintenance and Computer Hardware & software would be the prominent activities to be undertaken by the Centre.”
Dr. Mahesh Sharma, MoS (I/c), Ministry of Tourism & Culture said that these centers will go a long way in developing the skills of the people in this region. It will also help in increasing the odds of getting skilled jobs for the people.
Surendra Nath Tripathi, Additional Secretary & Development Commissioner (MSME) welcomed the dignitaries and conveyed thanks to State Government of Uttar Pradesh for allotment 15 acres of land free of cost for the Project and assured that all efforts would be made to complete the project in a time bound manner.
