The 31st edition of India Carpet Expo is being held from March 11 – 14, 2016 in NSIC Exhibition Complex, Okhla Industrial Estate, New Delhi. The Expo is being organized by the Carpet Export Promotion Council, under the aegis of Government of India. The Expo will be inaugurated on 11th March, 2016 by Union Textiles Minister, Santosh Kumar Gangwar. Secretary (Textiles), Rashmi Verma and Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Dr. K. Gopal will also be present.
The Expo aims to promote amongst visiting overseas carpet buyers, the cultural heritage and weaving skills that go into the production of Indian handmade carpets and other floor coverings. It is an ideal platform for international carpet buyers, buying houses, buying agents, architects, Indian carpet manufacturers & exporters to meet each other and establish long term business relationships. It is one of the largest handmade carpet fairs in Asia, that offers a unique platform for buyers to source the best handmade carpets, rugs and other floor coverings under one roof.
The Expo has become a popular destination for handmade carpets globally. India’s unique capability in adapting to any type of design, colour, quality & size as per the specifications of carpet buyers has made it a household name in the international market. Manufacturers & exporters from Bhadohi, Mirzapur,Varanasi, Agra, Srinagar and other key areas of India will exhibit their products.
India Carpet Expo has received overwhelming response from member exporters. 266 exhibitors are displaying their products in the March 2016 show. Over the years, the Expo has become a great sourcing platform for the carpet buyers from all over the globe. Around 450 Carpet importers from 57 countries, primarily from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Chile, Germany, Mexico, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey, U.K. and USA have registered for the Expo. Buyers from new countries, namely Bulgaria, Israel, Malaysia, Mauritius, Taiwan, Zimbabwe, Vietnam, Serbia, Colombia and Hungary are also attending.
The Carpet Export Promotion Council is providing an assistance of US $800 to buyers from USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Brazil, Chile and all other Latin American Countries, and US $550 to buyers from all other countries, as air travel subsidy. The Council is also providing a two-night complimentary stay in hotels in New Delhi.
Chairman, CEPC is confident that the Expo will generate good business and has requested the media to extend their full support for promotion of this event. The Council is taking all possible efforts for success of India Carpet Expo, with the active support of Committee of Administration and Government of India.
