Udyog Aadhar, launched by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister in September 2015 has evoked overwhelming response. Close to 3.5 lakh MSMEs have registered so far.
The online registration of small and medium business in the country will help them get benefits provided by government to MSMEs and is an attempt to help MSME go digital.
The registration is simple and can be filled up even through smart phones. The government has also provided registration by filling up forms, which had to be handed over to District Industrial Centers, particularly in areas where internet is not available.
There are nearly four crore MSMEs in the country, of which nearly 1.5 crore are small scale industries.
Maharashtra leads the number of UAM registrations followed by Bihar , Gujarat , Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. These top five states contribute close to 57% of the total registration till date (March 9, 2016).
