The company started the initiative in March 2015 and has facilities in Toulouse and Hamburg, apart from Bengaluru.

A total of 137 applicants from nine countries participated in the latest season. Seven companies – five from Bengaluru, one from Mumbai and one from Singapore were selected.

The programme is designed for aerospace and other start-ups that have products/solutions that can be adapted for the aerospace sector such as robotics, internet of things, data analytics, virtual/augmented reality, supply chain, fintech, gaming, manufacturing and image processing, Airbus said in a release.

BizLab supports the startups in a six-month acceleration programme. The companies have access to a number of Airbus coaches, technical and business experts and mentors in various domains, free hosting, and a Demo Day with Airbus decision makers, venture capitalists, Airbus customers and partners.

“Each startup we have selected carries the potential to shape the future of aerospace. Our job is to help them realize their potential,” said Bruno Gutierres, Global Head Airbus BizLab.

The startups from Bengaluru are Earth2Orbit from which creates data products that use satellite imagery to provide location specific commercial, economic, environmental and social information; eFlight which offers information such as fuel burn and air traffic control plans to a pilot on board from its app or website–a pilot can even get ATC clearance via SMS; Neewee, which uses internet of things to diagnose problems with aircraft; Stelae Technologies and SYmbosim.
