Nasscom-LogoYoungsters eyeing success in entrepreneurship must first achieve FAME. Before wondering how fame can be achieved without success, one should know that in the world of start-ups, FAME has a completely different meaning. It stands for Funding Acceleration Mentoring and Enterprise, which is the guiding philosophy of incubators.

And for young and enterprising minds in the city, there has never been a better time to find FAME, and eventually success.

For, Kochi, which is fast turning into the IT hub of the State, has emerged as the de facto hub of incubators.

Last month, the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) brought its branded concept of Startup Warehouse under its 10,000-start-ups initiative to the city. Functioning out of the Infopark campus, the facility spread over 7,000 sq. ft now has 15 start-ups while another six or seven are to be selected by March.

It can accommodate up to 30 start-ups at a time.

Kerala Startup Mission is on the verge of expanding its Technology Innovation Zone in Kinfra. Another one lakh sq. ft will be added to the existing 10,000 sq. ft later this year, sources said.

Infopark’s NRI-Technology Business Incubator aimed at lending a supporting hand to returning expatriates to set up start-ups, especially product-based ones, can accommodate 12 or 13 start-ups with a seating capacity for 60.

Infopark’s Technology Business Centre at Kaloor, formerly IT Habitat, now has around 70 companies, a mix of both SMEs and growing start-ups.

While incubation is not its domain, it assists entrepreneurs to gain market and scale up, using the brand value of Infopark.
