It was long before the idea of start-ups came into being, when a dreamer Akhil Paul, as he defines himself, came up with a venture to give the world a new experience in digital virtuality, and that is when ‘Mayabious’ – Maya Obvious – came into existence.

It was in the year 2007 when Akhil, along with two other inexperienced entrepreneurs Rana Basak and Barunendra Bachar following their heart, plunged in action to give life to their imagination through animation and digital communication.

“It has been close to 10 years, an inception by three young inexperienced wannabe entrepreneurs. What we lacked in business knowledge, we made up with astute technical know-how and credibility, having already burned our fingers in live projects. Come 2017, we shall complete a decade of our entrepreneurial endeavor; indeed a monumental occasion for us”, says Akhil, CEO and Founder of Mayabious Art.

Since then, there was no looking back. Mayabious will be a 25 crore annual turnover company by the end of this fiscal year. The company has grown from 3 to 200 plus employees with offices spread across the country and units in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and several different facilities in Kolkata and have spread their wings to international destinations such as Japan and UK.

“Today, we have grown to be the largest animation house in Eastern India. We have always envisioned drawing our inspiration from the visionary founder of Apple Inc. Steve Jobs and have tried to emulate his design aesthetics and values”, says Akhil, as he proudly boasts his achievements along with his friends.

Mayabious works in two parts – Mayabious Art and Mayabious InfoTech. Mayabious Art involves Art, Digital Communication and Animation and Mayabious InfoTech is involved in developing Mobile apps, Virtual tour, and Augmented reality, which are all together new experience in the present day digital space. Mayabious also have started its own training academy, Mayabious Academy.

While speaking to SMEpost, Akhil elaborately described the working of Mayabious, “Animation has always been the prime forte of our product line. We have striven to explore the best possible software and technology competing with international standards. An exemplary model for a Kolkata based company, we provide Animation and VFX services around the globe. Our ever-expanding array of services has gotten us into software and app development. Most recently we have combined both services to provide latest marketing tools like Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Immersion Reality (IR) and other niche products. Our client board is adorned with some of the most prominent names in Indian corporate scenario, such as Tata, Reliance, ITC etc, along with other brands of international prominence.”

The work and achievements of Mayabious is duly acknowledged in various national and international platforms with several awards such as the Dadasaheb Phalke award, the CII excellence award, the PRSI national award and recognition by NASSCOM among others.
