BUDGET 2016The Union Budget has evoked mixed reactions from the Mysore Industries Association (MIA). It has said that the budget provided measures for the overall economic development of the nation, but had nothing in specific for the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector.

Vishwanath, MIA President and Suresh Kumar Jain, MIA General Secretary, welcomed the move to constitute district-level committees under the chairmanship of Lok Sabha MP from the district to monitor and implement designated Central sector and Centrally-sponsored schemes.

They welcomed the “Startup India Scheme” and the directive that each bank branch should facilitate at least two such projects. They said this would benefit at least 2.5 lakh entrepreneurs. “There was no specific reference to the MSME sector at all with reference to the Make in India programme,” Vishwanath added.

The MIA said that Rs. 1,804 crore allocated for the purpose would enhance industrial output as also the decision to establish 150 multi-skill training institutes.
