Manya MadanWith nothing in hand but a vision to make a difference in the healthcare and pharmacy space has incepted a youg start-up – Medicians – to completely revolutionise the concept of get well soon(er)!

Medicians is about disrupting healthcare industry with the kind of products we have for people. By using Medicians, People will be able to – order their medicines online; find the better /cheaper alternatives of the medicines available; read description of the salt present in their medicine; manage their health records and digitize their hand written prescription in order to share it with anyone for 2nd, 3rd, 4th opinion anywhere round the globe”, says Medicians Founder Manya Madan.

Medicians is gradually growing in the online pharmacy space by helping 10k plus happy customers save up to thousands of rupees on medicines, up until now.

Excerpts from an exclusive interaction with Manya Madan of Medicians:

Background of Promoters

We are two promoters in the company. We have been working together since past 4 years and we hail from similar family background of pharmacy and medicine. Idea of starting up Medicians struck us over a brainstorming session and we have been working towards that ever since.

The initial period- the challenges & the ecstasy of quick wins!

We decided to build our own company when we were in 2nd year of our college. There was this first and the biggest challenge in front of us. That was to build an awesome team. Finding people having complimentary skill sets; people who could believe in us and have the courage to do something different in life.

The journey so far!

Medicians Logo.pngIt’s been a great journey. We have encountered a lot of challenges so far; handled a lot of problems well enough. We got a lot of help from our college (GTBIT) to run our business. Ours was the first start-up of our college. We have been a part of setting up an Incubation Centre in our college. We have moved from 2 people company to 15 people team so far. They are all great at what they do.

It’s fun building Medicians together.

Strategic Alliances & Partnerships

We have largely been only in the development phase so far until recently when we piloted our service and application in Delhi. We have partnered with Pharmacies and retail outlets to be a part of the supply chain and logistics system.

The future, as you see, 3 years from now in terms of scope & scale of your business enterprise

I see Medicians solving problems of this industry in India to make it more organised and a better place to live in. I see users of Medicians becoming truly Medicians – they will be organized and digitized, they will be medically educated. And I see myself working towards the further growth of Medicians.

Key moments of reckoning in business life

Key moments of reckoning were when we received our first order and when we closed the first major deal with a distributor. These are two key moments but there are more to come.

The feelings on getting the first big order / contract for your company

It was late at night. On my way back to home, I got a notification *You have one new order*. It was 2 days after the launch of Medicians and I couldn’t resist myself from jumping on the road. The best part about our first order was the amount – it was 10 times the minimum amount for order on our application. That was the day we realised, Okay, we are going good!
