A quick take on your business including the product / service idea

At QuikConsult, we are building India’s biggest online consultation platform. My start-up emerged from a bad personal experience of locating and consulting an accounting expert. I discovered that the process of speaking with an expert is full of complications. We are trying to simplify the same by enabling consultation through chat and email.

QuikConsult plays host to consultants and industry experts from vast range of industries including real estate, fitness, technology, spirituality, law, accounting, finance, business, fashion, and parenting.

Background of Promoter(s)

I have an MBA in Finance+SAP, and live in the beautiful city, Chandigarh. I have worked many years in the finance industry and help clients take better business decisions. I always wanted to try my luck in business. When our honorable PM urged entrepreneurs to take up the responsibility to start new ventures, I decided to work on my idea and started building QuikConsult with my friends. It has been quite a journey!

The initial period- the challenges &the ecstasy of quik wins!

Building QuikConsult was a challenge from the very beginning. Firstly, we needed to build a platform that was highly secure and can facilitate consultation through chat. This took a lot of time and investment. The second biggest challenge was to build the initial base of consultants. It was an uphill task that took efforts in personal reach and branding. The win was when consultants with industry experience of over 20 years started joining us.

The journey so far!

The journey has been full of unique experiences. We started with nothing and built a digital product that can change the way we consult experts in India. We have built a very practical business model and have connected with thousands of consultants in India. Our goal is to make QuikConsult the biggest and most trusted platform to seek expert advice online.

Strategic Alliances & Partnerships

Building initial database of consultants was a challenge for us. Hence, we partnered with UpReports, a start-up consultation and web services agency based in Chandigarh. The team helped us connect with the right talent and also carved the SEO and digital marketing strategy for us. Finding the right growth partners is crucial when you are building a digital product. I’m glad we connected with UpReports.

The future, as you see, 3 years from now in terms of scope & scale of your business enterprise

In 3 years, I will make QuikConsult the go-to platform for expert online advice in India. By 2019, we want to take the number of consultants to 30k and build powerful tools to further simplify consultation online. We don’t want to build something that will be driven by VC funding. We want to scale but not at the expense of giving control of decision making.

Key moments of reckoning in your business life

While I was motivated to start my entrepreneurial journey, taking the first step was really difficult. Building such a marketplace can be an expensive affair and there were many who recommended against it. The most memorable moments certainly has to be the day when we got our first consultant. Also, when I became part of Entrepreneur.com community.

Your feelings on getting the first big order / contract for your company

I was on cloud nine when we processed our first consultation! It was such a great feeling that it is hard to put in words. I guess only those who have toiled hard for something can realize it.
