Ambarish Mitra 2Blippar Inc, a technology company specializing in augmented reality, artificial intelligence and computer vision, has raised $54 million (Rs 365 crore) in series-D funding led by Khazanah Nasional Berhad, the strategic investment fund of the government of Malaysia. Existing investors also put in money.

Blippar will use the funds to strengthen its engineering team, expand to new regions and add new categories and content, the company said in a statement. “This latest funding round will allow us to continue to capture top engineering talent, further grow our leading global install base, (and) create one-of-a-kind campaigns for our brand partners…,” said Ambarish Mitra, Chief Executive of Blippar.

The company, which was founded in 2011, has more than 300 employees across 14 global offices, including 60 engineers in its San Francisco and Mountain View offices. It has more than 65 million users and partnerships with brands including Nestle, Procter & Gamble, Universal Pictures, Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Disney and Jaguar, the company said.

Blippar had raised $45 million in funding last year and acquired augmented reality platform Layar in 2014.
