“There are thousands of SME’s in India which are highly contributing to the manufacturing sector. SME’s are slow adapters of technology, but they are very quick in implementation of these technologies. The industry is trying its best to come up with innovative solutions to fulfill the demands of SMEs. Through the Prime Minister’s vision, manufacturing units not only have a chance to ‘Make in India’, but also to ‘Make out of India’. The business processes needs to be friendly, efficient and simplified for SME’s to operate smoothly” says Vineet Seth, Managing Director-South Asia & Middle East, Delcam Ltd.
Seth further adds that SMEs lack in terms of skilled labour especially when it comes to adopting technologies. There‘s a big gap in terms of what the industry demands and what the industry gets when it comes to talent. Vineet believes that unskilled labour is one of the reasons why SMEs are not able to cope with the changing technology
Seth further says, As a country we are entering a phase where high manufacturing sectors like aerospace and energy, have evolved as a whole new ball game and people are trying their best to enhance their capabilities. There’s nothing that the SME segment lacks today in terms of resources, manpower, investment.
With the ‘Make in India’ campaign, SMEs reach will broaden and the SME segment will prove to be a game changer in the manufacturing sector, adds Vineet further.
