On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, Central Government has decided to make superstar Akshay Kumar as the new face of Khadi. He will be promoting the new clothesline made by well known designer Ritu Beri titled Khadi Vichar Vastra.
Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) confirmed the news tweeting, a photo of Akshay Kumar in traditional red Khadi Kurta designed by Ritu Beri.

The Ministry also distributed 70 charkhas to 70 weavers of Narsannapeta and Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh under KRDP scheme of KVIC.
KRDM stands for Khadi Reform and Development Programme. It is an Asian Development Bank supported programme in support to take care of the need for sustainability of employment in the rural areas of the country though growth of Khadi.
With giving reference of Narendra Modi from ‘Mann Ki Baat’ ministry said family should buy things made of Khadi, so that poor can be benefitted from.
