Amazon_6Ecommerce major Amazon will provide its “Launchpad” services to startups and train them in marketing products as part of government’s plan to bring its expertise to Indian startups.

The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) will act as a coordinator and help organise nationwide training programmes by Amazon for budding entrepreneurs.

“Companies such as Amazon have global expertise which many startups will be able to use and we can help them reach out to entrepreneurs through our Startup hub,” a senior government official told. More such partnerships will be rolled out later.

Amazon’s Launchpad is a “programme which showcases innovative products of startups to its customers using its marketing tools, retail expertise and global infrastructure”.

Senior executives of the company met DIPP officials to discuss ways for collaboration with the Start-up India programme on July 25.

DIPP will now reach out to product-based startups and provide them an opportunity to market themselves better and improve their discoverability using Amazon’s Launchpad.

The company’s website mentions that if a startup has a product eligible for export, it can be made available to Amazon customers in over 80 countries.

When the startup is ready to establish international distribution, Amazon will help in launching the product in more than 10 marketplaces around the world.
