Maker-firstAhmedabad: Fourth edition of Indian version of ‘Maker Fest’, a fest launched in 2006 in USA showcasing community friendly products, was inaugurated.

Called ‘Maker Fest’ in India, 150 makers and 25 start-ups would be displaying their innovations at the event, the organisers said.

“The idea is to display products developed by the people who attempt to solve problems through innovation,” said US-based angel investor and entrepreneur Asha Jadeja Motwani.

“Its primary aim is to spark off creativity and instill confidence in people to take risk with their ideas, risks not just in terms of money but also time and passion,” she said.

Motwani also announced formation of a private limited company to scale up the event she first introduced in India four years ago.

Products displayed at the event include an LPG stove that tells the user when it needs refilling, and waste management solutions for landfills.

The event will also see a display by 8-year-old Saarang Sumeshm who has devised a ‘smart seat belt’ which has additional safety features for the elderly and children.
