budgetPresident of Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association A Padmanabha, along with office-bearers, has presented the pre-Budget memorandum for financial year 2017-18 to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The KASSIA  has requested the Government to allot land to the micro and small scale enterprises on lease-cum-sale as was  done earlier instead of 99 years lease as provided in the Industrial  Policy 2014-19.

This is important for SMEs as ownership of the industrial plot provides a unit necessary security to avail funds from the Banks.  The 99 years policy now in vogue   is unaffordable for the SMEs in view of the upfront payment of lease rent which makes it uneconomical,” A Padmanabha, President, KASSIA, said.

The KASSIA has requested that the state government create an independent directorate for the development of micro and small enterprises.

We are  setting up Center of Excellence in 5 acre land in Dabaspet Industrial Estate for the benefit of the SMEs. In view of the good work being done by KASSIA for the Micro and Small Enterprises, we request  that the State may provide us a special grant to KASSIA of  Rs. 5 crore annually,’’ the memorandum said.
