Pune has topped the charts in the state as far as online registrations of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for Udyog Aadhaar is concerned.
Pune bagged the first position with registrations of 6,090 such units during the past six months, while Nashik is on the fifth position with 3,458 registrations. Thane (4,833 registrations), Aurangabad (1,839) and Kolhapur (3,790) have taken the second, third and fourth places, respectively.
But Maharashtra, which was on top position in the country till December 2015, has now slipped to second position. Bihar has left all the 36 states and Union Territories in the country in online registrations of MSMEs for Udyog Adhaar with total 1.21 lakh registrations, followed by Maharashtra with 57,147 registrations. Gujarat (55,547) and Rajasthan (36,223) are on third and fourth positions, respectively.
Altogether 5.51 lakh MSMEs registered online for Udyog Adhaar across the country between September 1, 2015 and April 9, 2016.
The registrations of new MSMEs have been made online and linked to Aadhaar numbers with effect from October 6, 2015 by the state government. The Union government introduced the online registration system from September 1, 2015. Accordingly, an entrepreneur, who is opening a unit in the Micro, Small and Medium category, will have to submit Aadhaar number while registering online.
As many as 57,147 units have registered online for Udyog Aadhar in 36 districts of Maharashtra.
An official of the Joint Director of Industries (Nashik division), said, “Pune and Thane have more potential for MSMEs as compared to other cities such as Nashik. Moreover, awareness is also more in these cities because of which Pune and Thane are on the top positions when it comes to online registrations for Udyog Aadhar in Maharashtra.”
“We recently conducted a special drive for online registrations of MSMEs in the district. In Malegaon, there are units which have been in production but have not been registered so far. We are focusing on Malegaon for the purpose,” he added.
Earlier, the MSMEs had to submit the part-one certificate from the office of the District Industries Centre (DIC) of the state government while opening a new unit. They had to submit the part-two certificate after the units went into operation. Now, these two procedures have been cancelled and online registration has been introduced.
