Udyog Aadhar, launched by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister in September this year has evoked overwhelming response. Over one lakh MSMEs have registered so far in a short span of two months.
The online registration of small and medium business in the country will help them get benefits provided by government to MSMEs, particularly those available after mid September this year.
Till date, about 1.2 lakh Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises have registered online under the scheme in various states, MSME Secretary Anup Pujari told SMEpost.com adding it is also an attempt to help MSME go digital.
The registration is simple and can be filled up even through smart phones. The government has also provided registration by filling up forms, which had to be handed over to District Industrial Centers, particularly in areas where internet is not available.
There are nearly four crore MSMEs in the country, of which nearly 1.5 crore are small scale industries.
Barring Meghalay and Mizoram, MSME units in all the other states have started registration under UAM in the country. One of the reasons for it could be lack of awareness and poor internet connectivity in those two states. But not many from North Eastern and hilly states have started registering under UAM so far.
Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Lakshwdweep, Assam, Sikkim have less than ten unites registered under the scheme. Jammu and Kashmir, which also had less than units last week, has now picked up and so far 32 units have registered under UAM.
The response from Tamil Nadu, which has one of the largest numbers of MSMEs in the country too not that encouraging so far with only 239 Udyog registering under UAM, Pujari said adding we would look into this aspect after normalcy returned to the state following the devastating floods.
Maharashtra topped the list with over 23,200 registrations, followed by Rajasthan with over 14,200 and Gujarat nearly 14,000. All other states had registration less than 10,000 units. Telangana had nearly 10,000 units at 9.300.
Of the 100,833 MSMEs registered, nearly 76,000 were micro enterprises, a little over 24,000 were small scale industries and nearly 1000 were medium enterprises.
