My Parking launches on street smart parkingLaunches On-street Smart Parking without the need of sensors an Indian startup solving parking problems From Delhi to Kumbh Mela to IPL Get My Parking (GMP) is a Chennai Angels funded venture started by IIT Madras and FMS Delhi alumni which has digitized the parking industry.

Despite the industry inertia they have revolutionized the parking industry. With 50,000 parking spots in Delhi and appreciation by honorable PM Narendra Modi for their work in Kumbh Mela, they are now market leaders in mobile-based smart parking technology. They have a strong foundation of team and technology and have partnerships with leading system integrators and parking hardware manufacturers.

They are now working with several city municipal corporations to accelerate smart parking digitization and accomplish the mission to change urban mobility in India. Parking is a complex problem Delhi RTO registers 1600 vehicles every day. Pune adds 700. Thousands of vehicles are being added to roads every day, but vehicles spend 90percent of the time being parked. Where will we park all these new vehicles?

Not only do inefficient parking systems result in congestion and increased carbon emissions, they also waste commuters’ time, leads to productivity loss and loss of economic opportunities and can lead to inefficient city services. Unorganized parking creates problems on multiple fronts. If even a single car on the road slows down to search for an available parking spot, the entire traffic behind it slows down.

At any moment, over 10 of vehicles on road are searching for parking. They have a multiplier effects on the traffic speed and the overall traffic congestion goes up by 30percent at peak time. That results in 30percent more carbon emissions. As per IBM Global Parking Index 2011, an average urban motorist spends 20 minutes more on road due to parking problems.
