Akshat MittalThirteen-year old Akshat Mittal creator of Oddeven.com, which matches individuals to potential ride-share or carpool in the direction of their commute, has sold his company to carpool app Orahi.com for an undisclosed amount.

The site was developed and launched in December 2015 by the standard 9 student anticipating the odd-even vehicle rule implemented by the Delhi government in January this year, to control pollution in NCR.

Following the all-cash deal, the student of Amity International School in Delhi will be a part of the company’s technical advisory board and will be mentored by Orahi for a year. “The algorithm was developed by me and I look forward to the year-long stint with the board,” says Mittal. The odd-even.com website will re-direct users to the Orahi interface going ahead.

“The name is catchy and easy to remember. It currently has 30,000 users and we anticipate more users to register after the second phase of odd-even rule comes into effect on April 15,” says Arun Bhati, Chief Executive Officer of Orahi.

The users will be redirected to Orahi after the verification process and the transaction and payment can now be completed over the web or app interface instead of the offline route used by odd-even.com Focused on home to office drops, Orahi recently raised Rs 3.5 crore from a group of investors from the Indian Angel Network (IAN).

The company plans on introducing a new product for college-goers to carpool by end of the third quarter of this year.
